What is the Lancaster ISD Education Foundation?
The Lancaster Independent School District Education Foundation is a partnership between school district employees, business leaders, and members of the community working together to raise funds for the Innovative Teaching Grant Program.
What does the Lancaster ISD Education Foundation do?
The Lancaster ISD Education Foundation raises money through the Employee Annual Fund Drive, Annual Gala, solicitations, memorial/honorarium gifts and grant writing, all benefiting Innovative Teaching Grants.
What are Innovative Teaching Grants?
Innovative Teaching Grants begin with a teacher’s idea for a creative project for their classroom that includes learning objectives, instructional methods, and student activities. Teachers complete grant applications on the form provided on the website and submit them before the application deadline. A grant committee consisting of Foundation directors and school district personnel reviews, evaluates and scores each grant. Top grants are awarded in May in a surprise visit from the sweepstakes style “Prize Patrol.” Innovative Teaching Grants are implemented the following school year.
What is the Employee Annual Fund?
The Employee Annual Fund gives Lancaster ISD employees an opportunity to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Education Foundation. All Employee Annual Fund contributions go directly to fund the Innovative Teaching Grant Program. Employees who make a gift of $100 or more annually are members of the Children First Club and receive a plaque to display in their classroom or office. Employee gifts to the Education Foundation may be made by payroll deduction in 10 equal payments from November through August.
